Goals:
Highlights of West Mesa Neighborhood Association Actions, February 2005:
  • City of Alburquerque (COA) Alburquerque Citizen Team (ACT) HUD meetings
  • Obtained a Memorial of support for a National Cemetery near 9-mile hill from the Alburquerque City Council
  • Assisted in making the "temporary" Traffic Light at Coors Blvd NW & Los Volcanes Road NW permanent ; also to obtain a "turning" signal at subject light
  • Assisting in making the South West Alliance of Neighbors (SWAN) Coalition more viable.
  •  Instrumental in having the Alburquerque Journal revamp their West Side Journal section so it would be more germane to the people of the West Side & South Valley-mainly those that live South of I-40
  • On Community Action Team (CAT) for the Metropolitan Redevelopment of West Central Avenue & Old South Coors Blvd 
  • On Steering Committee of the Department of Justice, Bernalillo County, & Albuquerque West Side & South Valley Weed and Seed Program
  •  Provide 43 Turkey Food Baskets to 39 families for Thanksgiving
  •  Coordinated and hosted the 9th Annual APD Appreciation Day at Shawn McWethy Police Substation the Friday before Christmas day-fed main meals to all shifts for a total of about 100+ Officers & Staff.

North: I-40,
South: Central + 1 block south for businesses,
West: Coors Boulevard + 1 street west for businesses,
East: Yucca, La Bajada, Atrisco Drive.

The West Mesa Community Center has been demolished and it could be two years before a new center is built and open for business. We will continue to meet on the second Tuesday of the month but the new time will be 6:30 pm and the new location will be at the Shawn McWethy Memorial Substation, 6404 Los Volcanes Rd. NW.
